Seller Insight

"The property belonged to my mother- and father-in-law for fifteen years before we moved here back in 2011," says Clair. "It began life as a rather more modest three-bedroom, but we've since transformed it into a lovely big multi-generational house. It's been an idyllic place to raise our children and we've relished the fact that three generations of our family have been able to live together while also having our own space and, I suppose, that little bit of separation and therefore privacy."

"We've essentially more than doubled the size of the house, adding a very large extension to one side and then the roof was removed and an entire new first floor was added – which incorporates three enormous bedrooms. It's a very light, bright house, perfect for busy family life and entertaining, and the annexe is exceptionally spacious. It incorporates a second kitchen, a lounge, a dining room, a bathroom and a bedroom. It's huge, and the real beauty of it is the fact that the way it has been configured means that it can be used as a separate entity or the rooms can easily be incorporated back into the main body of the house – should the new owners not have any need for it."

"The house sits on just under two acres of land, and being able to enjoy such a superb amount of outside space is definitely something we've all loved. My mother-in-law created a stunning garden with lots of plants and trees, all of which are now beautifully established; there are open lawns, an abundance of fruit trees – including two very productive cherry trees at the front of the house – and right at the very end is a pretty wooded area. The garden as a whole is a lovely place to sit out and relax in and it's both incredibly peaceful and totally private."

"Upstairs is probably my favourite part of the house, simply because it's so quirky. The bedrooms have these amazing vaulted ceilings and we've kept the beams exposed. The rooms are big anyway, but having the void up to the roof exposed creates a really amazing sense of space."

"Doddington is a much sought-after village, and for good reason. It has a really friendly and vibrant community with lots of events held throughout the year, including a carnival, which is a particular highlight of the village calendar. There are a couple of nice pubs, a little shop that caters for day-to-day essentials and people often move here just to get their children into the primary school, which is highly regarded."

"As well as a little stable block, the property also incorporates a large greenhouse, a polytunnel as well as a fruit-caged allotment, so it's a place where you can be fairly self-sufficient in terms of fruit and veg. We've also had the space to keep a variety of animals over the years."

"I think our favourite thing about this property is the wonderful amount of space, both inside and out," says Clair. "For us it has been an idyllic place to call home, and I've no doubt that the new owners will love it every bit as much as we have."
